LONDON – British police say they will review the 1969 death of Rolling Stones guitarist Brian Jones. Sussex police said Monday in a statement that they have received documents from an investigative journalist that relate to Jones’ death. They say the papers “will be examined by the force, but it’s too early to comment at this time as to what the outcome might be.” Jones died in July 1969 at age 27. His body was found in the swimming pool at his 11-acre (4.5-hectare) Sussex estate. A coroner said Jones drowned while under the influence of alcohol and drugs. But there has long been speculation about the nature of Jones’ death.

Kiss‘ Gene Simmons has lambasted the media for ruining the group’s plans for a surprise performance in Oshawa, Canada, celebrating the Sonic Boom album’s release. News outlets complained that the city was being snubbed when it didn’t appear on the group’s tour itinerary, even though it was the top vote-getter in a contest determining where the trek would stop. Simmons says the ensuing outcry forced Kiss to schedule the special gig sooner than they’d have liked. The concert will take place Oct. 7.

A new ZZ Top concert DVD titled Double Down Live is due out on Oct. 20. The two-disc set will include performances from two different periods in the Texas trio’s storied career. Disc one boasts a 22-song set the band played in 1980 in Essen, Germany, that was filmed for the German TV show Rockpalast. The second DVD captures ZZ Top during their 2008 European trek, and offers live footage, interviews and behind-the-scenes clips.

It Might Get Loud trailer

“Jimmy Page, The Edge, and Jack White walk into a bar…”

The premise is awesome. Three rockstars in a room together talking to eachother about melting people’s faces off.  Whether or not the movie will live up to the hype, we don’t know.  But we’re more than willing to do the research…

More info on the movie here.

Spence Peppard’s dream has always been to become a “Hardcore Country” singer.  We agree that the guy has what it takes.  Get him a record deal already.

Movie Theater or Karaoke Bar?

With internet downloads and Netflix quenes, going to the movies has become a sort of out-dated night time activity. To combat the low attendance numbers, theaters in Europe have begun to add more to the experience than just a 90 minute flick.

In Europe, cinemas are taking it a step farther by remaking themselves as entertainment destinations _ with bowling alleys, karaoke bars, comedy clubs and children’s play areas. Expect that here, too, as well as interior design schemes that appeal to the 18-to-24 set, and that might “dismay” the older crowd, says Toronto-based theater architect David Mesbur.

Karaoke? Bowling? Something tells me that sort of combats the whole “quiet” thing that you want when you’re trying to watch a movie on the big screen. How about we just put a giant cell phone in every handrest that goes off every twenty minutes. Maybe include a fog machine and strobe lights. Kids these days LOVE strobe lights.

Texting PSA becomes Internet Sensation

Texting while driving Pictures, Images and Photos

A PSA made for schools in Wales has become a YouTube sensation thanks to it’s extreme over-the-top violent disfigurement. The cause they’re bringing awareness to: texting-while-driving.

There is a four minute clip from the 30 min video made to be shown in schools to scare kids straight on the texting behind the wheel issue. The clip follows a very graphic, very bloody crash caused by a distracted teen driver OMG-LOL-ing on the road. According to Police, it’s working.

The video is pretty graphic, so we won’t put it on here.  But you can probably find it pretty quick on Google.  Again – it’s pretty gross.

ATM Stolen from Millenium Park

Atm Machine Pictures, Images and Photos

At 7am this morning, Chicago police responded to a theft at Millenium Park. It seems at some point last night, someone stole an ATM from the Park Grill next to the Bean.

You didn’t read that wrong.  Last night, someone was able to get into an ATM vestibule and steal the entire machine.  Not just a couple bucks… they took the ENTIRE thing.  Police are still unsure how they managed to drag the machine away, but the perpetrators managed to do it without alerting security or setting off any alarms.

Police are busy reviewing the tapes to see how someone could’ve pulled this off, but we’re pretty sure ninjas are to blame.  It’s the only logical answer.
