Arnel Pineda, who has grabbed the mic and taken Steve Perry’s place as Journey’s frontman, was actually singing for a cover band in the Phillipines and posting some of his performances online. The band saw some of his covers on YouTube and decided to bring him in for an audition.

The Rolling Stones are without a doubt one of the biggest names of all time when it comes to in rock music. And according to sources within the Stones inner-circle, they will have to do without the presence of drummer Charlie Watts.
Watts, who has been the drummer for the band since 1963, has reportedly left the band according to Undercover.com.
“The news does not come as a surprise. It was common knowledge that Keith Richards had to talk Charlie into contributing to the A Bigger Bang tour but this time it seems there is no calling Charlie back to active duty.
With Mick Jagger planning more Stones activity next year, the departure of Charlie will be a huge blow to the band. Charlie was the backbone of the band.”
Sources close to Watts have simply said he doesn’t feel like doing it anymore. His departure comes just three years short of the band’s 50th Anniversary.
“Super-group” is a term thrown around a lot in the music industry. But recently, two such mega-loaded bands have appeared on the scene and are rocking America pretty hard.
CHICKENFOOT
How can a band with as stupid of a name as “Chickenfoot” expect to bring in an audience? Well, when your band is composed of former Van Halen rockers Michael Anthony and Sammy Hagar, Red Hot Chili Peppers’ drummer Chad Smith, and guitar-God Joe Satriani, it doesn’t really matter what you call it. People are going to come check it out. Listen to the single, “Oh Yeah”, below.
When Lollapalooza hit Chicago last month, the show that generated the most buzz all weekend wasn’t actually playing in Grant Park. Them Crooked Vultures, a new super-group featuring Foo Fighters/Nirvana’s Dave Grohl on drums, Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme, and Led Zeppelin’s John Paul Jones on bass. Their “secret show” at the Metro last month was a huge success and their addition to the Austin City Limits bill next month has everyone talking. They’re going on tour again this October… but no stops scheduled for Chicago. Below is a preview of one of their new songs.
So we want to know… who would be in your super-group? Would you have Steve Perry accompanied by Slash? Or maybe Eddie Van Halen and Angus Young just rocking your face off is more your style. Let us know, leave a comment. Who’s in your Super Group?
Pearl Jam recently defended its deal with Target to exclusively sell its new Backspacer album, assuring fans that they can trust the band.”We’ve put a tremendous amount of thought into this, and we’ve done it in a way that we think will be good for everybody,” frontman Eddie Vedder said recently. The deal makes Target the only corporate retail store that can sell the album, but it still allows other independent record stores and iTunes to carry it.
