The White House announced this morning that President Obama will in fact travel to Copenhagen to show support for Chicago’s Olympic Bid. It marks the first time in history that a US President has gone to lobby for an American Olympic bid. He will be joined by the First Lady, Education Secretary Arne Duncan, and Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, all of whom are from Chicago.
The announcement will be made this Friday, October 2nd around 9am. If you’re downtown and want to get in on the festivities, there will be a public viewing outside of Daley Plaza for the announcement.

[Fox News] While Beatles fanatics may believe that the psychidellic track “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds” is a coded reference to the drugs that probably helped create the song, Lennon always refuted the claims. According to him, the reference came from his son, Julian, who brought home a picture he had drawn at school of one of his classmates describing it as his friend Lucy ‘in the sky with diamonds’. Lennon jumped on it and the song went on to be a huge part of the Sgt. Pepper’s album and the school girl who inspired it became a small time celebrity.
Sadly, Lucy Vodden passed away last week after a five year fight with lupus. Lucy had gone on the record saying that while she loved the Beatles, she never quite related to the song. Julian and her remained close in recent years and the family has expressed condolences to her family.
