[Huffington Post] Beer Pong. It has become a staple on college campuses and acceptable behavior at Bears tailgates. But apparently, the game can also be a battleground for disease.
Earlier this year, a similar story exploded on the internet linking increase playing of Beer Pong on college campuses to a rise in oral Herpes from college students. The story turned out to be a fabrication with absolutely no CDC report ever coming out detailing this research. But there was still merit to the story as the use of shared cups, dirty ping pong balls, and overall hygenic practices at college being easy ways to transmit pathogens between students.
With the Swing Flu scare in full swing, officials at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute sent out an email warning students to avoid playing the frat house game to curb the H1N1 epidemic on campus. The school already has 21 swine flu cases on campus with 7 of those students now in isolation rooms.
