AP) Vernon police said they arrested a man who was dressed as a ninja and waving nunchucks while yelling about wanting to beat up U.S. Sen. Joe Lieberman. The man, 30, was charged Sunday with breach of peace. Police said he was brought to Rockville General Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation and later released.
Authorities said they received several emergency calls about the man, who witnesses say was standing at the corner of Route 83 and Regan Road at about 11 a.m.
Officers said they pulled out bean bag and taser guns, and the man became polite and cooperative.
The man couldn’t be reached Monday. He has no public phone listing, and it’s not clear whether he has a lawyer.

[CBS News] Apparently, Richard Gere was so choked up reading the script from his new movie that he ‘cried like a baby’. The story is based on an old Japanese tale where a dog dies at a train station waiting for his owner to return home.
“Hachiko: A Dog’s Story” doesn’t yet have a wide release date in the US, so we’ll all have to wait to see what touches Gere so. But in the meantime, we decided to share with you some other things that probably make Richard Gere blabber like a 12-year old girl who just found out the Jonas Brothers aren’t real.

[CBS News] Now that he has turned 18 years old, Khagendra Thapa Magar of Nepal wants the people at Guinness World Records to notice his excessive ’smallness’. Magar is 22-inches tall and now that he is a legal adult, he thinks the title of The World’s Shortest Man belongs to him.
He applied four years ago, but was denied the title since he was only 14 at the time and not considered an “adult”.
The one we feel sorry for… the guy who currently holds the record. He Pingping of China (pictured above with World’s Tallest Man in “Most Ironic Photo Ever”) comes in at 29 inches tall at the age of 21. I mean, what do you do when you’re the “Second Shortest Man in the World”. Is there a silver medal for stature? We certainly hope so. For Pingping’s sake.
But whatever happens, keep your head up Pingping… people might trip on you if your bending over.

Paul McCartney took home the Songwriter of the Year honor at the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers Awards in London on Wednesday.
In a year that has seen the release of the remastered Beatles album catalog and the The Beatles: Rock Band video game, McCartney was recognized for such songs as “All You Need Is Love,” “Come Together” and “Hello Goodbye.”
Also receiving honors for songs at the ASCAP Awards, which recognized the most performed songs in 2008 by writer and publisher members of the U.K. collecting society, PRS for Music, were AC/DC’s Brian Johnson, U2, Roger Waters, Phil Collins, and Mick Jagger and Keith Richards.
Song of the Year honors went to Coldplay for “Viva La Vida,” the lead single from their 2008 album, Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends.
Rumor is… McCartney might be headed out on a 2010 tour with a special stop in Chicago. We’ll keep you posted.

Bon Jovi has announced that they will be the “artist in residence” on NBC networks for the next two months. This means that the band will appear exclusively on NBC and its affiliated local networks, as well as NBC’s Bravo network. The move is part of an effort to promote the group’s upcoming release, The Circle, which is set to hit stores on November 11.
“We have to sacrifice certain shows and relationships,” frontman Jon Bon Jovi said of the exclusive deal. “We hope this doesn’t jeopardize any of them. But in a shrinking media environment, you have to kind of reinvent the wheel.”
The Circle is Bon Jovi’s eleventh studio album, and their fifth in the last 10 years. Guitarist Richie Sambora told Rolling Stone that the album marks a return to classic Bon Jovi rock and roll.
“There’s going to be some big choruses on there,” he said. “It sounds like Bon Jovi, but it sounds fresh.” The band plans to hit the road in early 2010.
