Bon Jovi has announced that they will be the “artist in residence” on NBC networks for the next two months. This means that the band will appear exclusively on NBC and its affiliated local networks, as well as NBC’s Bravo network. The move is part of an effort to promote the group’s upcoming release, The Circle, which is set to hit stores on November 11.
“We have to sacrifice certain shows and relationships,” frontman Jon Bon Jovi said of the exclusive deal. “We hope this doesn’t jeopardize any of them. But in a shrinking media environment, you have to kind of reinvent the wheel.”
The Circle is Bon Jovi’s eleventh studio album, and their fifth in the last 10 years. Guitarist Richie Sambora told Rolling Stone that the album marks a return to classic Bon Jovi rock and roll.
“There’s going to be some big choruses on there,” he said. “It sounds like Bon Jovi, but it sounds fresh.” The band plans to hit the road in early 2010.
