[CBS News] Jack FM’s favorite one-armed drummer is doing more than just rocking our faces off. Def Leppard’s Rick Allen talked at length during an interview on CBS’ Early Show about using his personal story of triumph over tragedy to help inspire wounded vets returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.
Rick Allen’s story of overcoming the loss of his left arm in a car accident and continuing to drum in one of the biggest rock bands of the 1980s has long been considered one of the most awe-inspiring tales in the world of music.
Allen’s organization, Raven Drum, helps troops who have sufferred life-altering traumas to celebrate their uniqueness and find a light during some of the darkest moments of their lives.
Def Leppard was set to begin the third leg of their North American tour last week, but had to cancel due to “unforseen circumstances”. While it sucks that we won’t see them on stage, you can still see their touring partners, Cheap Trick, live and in charge at Jack’s Cheap Christmas on December 10th at Allstate Arena.
