[Philly.com] College students are notorious for being cheap, but sometimes it might be warranted. Two 22 year olds ended up in cuffs after a night at the bar – and not because of over-consumption.
The two students were at the Lehigh Pub in Bethleham, PA with a group of friends. The establishment adds 18% gratuity to every group over 6, but the students were pretty upset when they felt the “gratuity” was undeserved.
The students told police they had to find their own napkins and silverware, get their own refills from the bar, and wait over an hour for wings and a salad while their waitress was outside on a smoke break.
The 18% tip added up to $16.35, something the students felt was unnecessary. The bar then called police after the group refused to pay, arresting two students for “theft”. They go to court next month.
What Jack wants to know – how did they manage to spend over an hour at a bar with food and drinks for 6 people and only spend $73???
Was it “Penny Beer Night”?
