Scott Weiland has released a special cover of “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas,” the song Judy Garland originally sang in the 1944 movie, Meet Me In St. Louis.
The Velvet Revolver and Stone Temple Pilots front man has performed the song before, most notably during a 2006 appearance on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno.
Meanwhile, Weiland has reunited with STP. The band was set to tour in December and January after a successful six-month comeback tour earlier this year, but postponed the dates in order to finish recording their new album.
The band has brought on producer Don Was, who has worked with the Rolling Stones, Iggy Pop and Poison.
STP reformed in 2008 after a six-year hiatus. During their time apart, Weiland recorded two albums with Velvet Revolver, which included former members of Guns N’ Roses. He also recorded his second solo album, Happy in Galoshes, which came out late last year.

Geffen Records executive John Kalodner thinks that Lenny Kravitz should replace Steven Tyler as a singer for Aerosmith, since Tyler has gone on hiatus from the group. “I was talking to Marty Frederickson about this . . .” Kalodner told Rolling Stone. “We were talking about how no one can replace Steven Tyler, but the only person he said – and I agreed with – that could even make Aerosmith anything would be Lenny Kravitz.
Renowned Geffen Records executive John Kalodner thinks that Lenny Kravitz should replace Steven Tyler as a singer for Aerosmith, since Tyler has gone on hiatus from the group.
“I was talking to Marty Frederickson about this because he co-wrote “Jaded” and worked with [Aerosmith] for 10 years or so,” Kalodner told Rolling Stone. “We were talking about how no one can replace Steven Tyler, but the only person he said – and I agreed with – that could even make Aerosmith anything would be Lenny Kravitz.”
Kalodner was directly responsible for Aerosmith’s comeback in the 1980s after the band fell off the map.
Meanwhile, Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford has confirmed that they will start searching for Tyler’s replacements.
“You’re never gonna fill the shoes of Steven Tyler,” Whitford says. “Not even possible. So we’re not even thinking in terms of filling his shoes. But there may be some people willing to try, and hopefully we do something creative with it, you know, and not just go out there and be like an Aerosmith cover band.”
