A report by Fox Chicago News has revealed that the Chicago Cubs are currently in talks with Paul McCartney and Billy Joel and Elton John – who performed two shows at Wrigley Field last season – to discuss upcoming summer concerts.
Although no deals have been reached so far, it is expected that a decision will be made and deals will be finalized in the next 60 days. The Cubs, who own Wrigley Stadium, have also been in talks with Dave Matthews Band and Phish.
Last year, concerts at the ballpark created controversy in the surrounding neighborhood when a community group rallied for the cancellation of a Rascal Flatts concert. The group claimed that the performance violated a two shows per year agreement and that the scheduled date conflicted with a neighborhood festival.
The Cubs have reassured the neighborhood groups that this time their concerns will be addressed and their needs will be met during the decision-making process.

The annual concerts at Wrigley Field are great for the community.
