[CBS News] In case you needed an excuse to throw a couple back this evening, today is Fat Tuesday – our annual celebration of beads, hurricane drinks, and mid-week debauchery.

While there are some events going down in the city tonight, the real party every year is down in New Orleans. It is currently 50 degrees in the big easy (seriously, cry us a river) which is low for this time of year.

Apparently all the heat is in Rio for Carnivale which is currently experiencing record high temps over 110 degrees F. Is it too cliche if we called it hot hot hot ???

According to BusterSports.com, NBA player Emeka Okafor’s younger cousin Jahlil has been offerred a full-ride scholarship to play for DePaul. In 2014.

Why so long til we see Jahlil Okafor on the hardwood for the Blue Demons? Maybe it’s because the kid is still in 8th Grade. It has been widely discussed that this is a potential recruiting violation, but if it means the Lincoln Park squad can beat their current 1-11 conference record at the bottom of the Big East, I think we can let it slide. This is Chicago, afterall.

As “morally corrupt” as this may seem, the Rosemont Elementary student is already 6′5″. And we hear he’s totally going steady with Kelly McCaullney. They met in home room.
