JACK’s favorite “boy band” is getting the Behind the Music treatment this Sunday. Genesis will be featured this weekend as part of the new Behind the Music Remastered series on VH1 Classic. The new shows pick up where the old BTM profiles left off on eight iconic rock bands. The Remastered version will include new videos, interviews, and live performance clips from the bands over the past decade. Other JACK artists getting the treatment in the new series include Motley Crue, Metallica, Judas Preist, Def Leppard, and John Lennon.

The Genesis show will debut this Saturday, February 20th at 10pm ET on VH1 Classic. From the clips we’ve seen, the show will be a highlight for any Genesis fan – Gabriel and Collins camps alike. Including footage from the Collins-Rutherford-Banks 2007 reunited tour and info on their upcoming induction into the Rock ‘N Roll Hall of Fame this year.

Resurgent rock icons Guns N’ Roses gave their second unannounced performance as part of New York’s Fashion Week over the weekend. Axl Rose and the rest of the band took to the bar at New York’s Gramercy Park Hotel for a star-studded event, which kicked off around 1:30 AM Sunday morning.

Guns N’ Roses reportedly ripped though renditions of their classic tracks, including “Welcome to the Jungle,” “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door” and “Sweet Child O’ Mine,” as well as showing off songs from their current album, Chinese Democracy.

Celebrities in attendance included Russell Simmons, Dita Von Teese, Mickey Rourke, Adrian Grenier, Chloë Sevigny and Strokes drummer Fabrizio Moretti.

The glamorous event almost ended in tragedy, however, when a drunken man with a knife entered the party. Fortunately, the man was spotted and apprehended by police, causing only a brief interruption.

Some of rock and roll’s biggest names turned up at New York’s Brooklyn Academy of Music to pay tribute to Yoko Ono earlier this week.

The show, which was billed under the name of Ono’s 1970s supergroup, Plastic Ono Band, featured performances by Eric Clapton, Paul Simon, Bette Midler, the Scissor Sisters, Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore and Ono’s son, Sean Lennon. The group revived several John Lennon classics – including “Give Peace a Chance” and “Yer Blues” – and also performed a number of Ono’s solo works.

Aerosmith has signed on to headline this year’s Download Festival with estranged frontman Steven Tyler onboard. AceShowbiz reports that Tyler’s indefinite hiatus from the band will come to an end when the Boston-based group makes its way to the U.K. festival this June.

Tyler and Aerosmith have been on the outs since late 2009, when the singer was reportedly forced to enter rehab in order to kick an addiction to painkillers. Soon after, guitarist Joe Perry hit the road with his side band, the Joe Perry Project, and stated publicly that he was looking for a new lead singer for Aerosmith.

The Download Festival announcement, however, indicated that Tyler and the group have apparently reconciled.
