In a recent interview with GQ Magazine Jack White confirmed that he had recently collaborated with Jay-Z in the studio and that they recorded at least one track.  There was no mention of an official release, or if this a sign of an upcoming crossover album but both artists are known for releasing seemingly mismatched collaborations.

Jay-Z most memorably released the album Collision Coursewith Linkin Park in 2004, that was received with critical and commercial success.  Jack White collaborated with Alicia Keys for the theme song for the most recent James Bond movie, Quantum of Solace and also produced, wrote, and played on country veteran Loretta Lynn’s 2004 album Van Lear Rose.

Does Jack White sing, play guitar, play drums, or all three?  Does Jay-Z spit hot fire or produce? Is it a rock tune with rapping, a rap tune with a guitar hook, or it something completely different?  With two artists who are not afraid to step out of their comfort zone, this partnership is very intriguing and any release will be like..a really big deal.
