Anna Kournikova received news this morning that her mother, Alla Kournikova, was arrested for child neglect after she left Anna’s 5 year old half-brother, Allan, home alone. He jumped out of a second story window and landed on the sidewalk. Neighbors found the boy in pain and bleeding, so the police were called and when Alla arrived back at the house, she was arrested.

She told the officers that the house was locked and that she only left for an hour, but they didn’t but that. The boy is currently in the hospital, but is ok.

Meet today’s Jackass of The Day, Acea Shomaker. Accourding to AP he tried to cool out his hyper cat by stuffing her into a boxlike homemade bong faces cruelty charges — and catcalls from animal lovers. Lancaster County sheriff’s deputies responding to a domestic disturbance call Sunday alleged they saw 20-year-old Acea Schomaker smoking marijuana through a piece of garden hose attached to a duct-taped, plastic glass box in which the cat had been stuffed.

“This cat was just dazed,” Sgt. Andy Stebbing said. “She was on the front seat of the cop car, wrapped in a blanket, and never moved all the way to the humane society.”

Schomaker told deputies 6-month-old Shadow was hyper and he was trying to calm her down. The contraption she had been stuffed inside was 12 inches by 6 inches. Shadow was timid but in good condition Monday at the Capital Humane Society, executive director Bob Downey said.

Schomaker, who was released from jail after paying a $400 fine on the arrest warrant, faces drug and misdemeanor animal cruelty charges.

Alex Rodriguez, the biggest name still playing in baseball, the highest paid player, one of the biggest names in sports, and one of the best players in baseball took steroids.

It was first reported Saturday by Sports Illustrated reporter, Selena Roberts that Alex Rodriguez had tested positive for steriods back in 2003 while still with the Texas Rangers.

This morning from his home in Miami, Alex Rodriguez sat down with ESPN and Baseball Tonight analyst Peter Gammons to admit that he did take steroids and/or other banned substances during the 2001, 02, and 03 seasons.

Yet another fallen star to add to the list of all-time great who are not or most likely will not be voted into the Hall of Fame.

First it was all-time hits leader Pete Rose in the 80’s getting banned for betting on the game.

Then the current all-time career and season homerun leader, Barry Bonds. On trial now for lying to a grand jury about taking banned performance enhancing drugs.

Mark McGwire, the first man to break Roger Maris’ single season homerun record. Never admitted or denied the use of banned performance enhancing drugs but in succlusion.

Sammy Sosa, the only man with 3 consecutive 60 homerun seasons doesn’t look to be going after suspicions of using banned performance enhancing drugs. Although the fact that he corked his bat should be enough not to get him into the HOF. That’s two times over that he has cheated.

Roger Clemens the best right handed pitcher since the end of WWII, yet to be solidified, but has enough evidence and witnesses against him saying that he did take banned substances.

Now add Alex Rodriguez to that list, he was presumably going to take over as the All-time career homerun king by the time his career was finished, he is already a 3-time MVP, but his HOF hopes have all gone down the drain.

He did admit and apologize for taking steriods, but that doesn’t mean he is cleared or forgiven. Pete Rose, finally, after almost 20 years of lying, admitted that he did bet on the game, still not in the HOF and will never be in.

A-rod shouldn’t get in and neither should the others mentioned once/if it is proven that they used performance enhancing drugs.

They are all cheaters and have no respect for the game of baseball and no respect for the intelligence, and integrety of the fans.

But they aren’t the only ones to blame. The people running MLB, Bud Selig, the MLBPA, the owners, and anyone who could have stopped this are all at fault as well.

(AP) A San Diego judge has declared a mistrial in a kidnapping and assault case after the defendant smeared excrement on his lawyer’s face and threw it at jurors.

The judge boosted defendant Weusi McGowan’s bail from $250,000 to $1 million after the Monday incident.

Prosecutor Christopher Lawson says McGowan was upset because the judge refused to remove public defender Jeffrey Martin from the case.

McGowan had smuggled a bag of feces into court and spread it on Martin’s hair and face before flinging the excrement at jurors. No jurors were hit.

McGowan has pleaded not guilty to kidnapping for robbery, assault with a deadly weapon and other counts in connection with a 2007 home invasion.

(AP) A man who hid hunting knives in his pants to try to steal them from a western Michigan store tripped while fleeing and stabbed himself in the abdomen, police say.

The suspect was hospitalized after Monday night’s attempted theft from a Meijer Inc. superstore in Grand Rapids and is expected to face a misdemeanor shoplifting charge, police say.

The wounds did not appear to be life-threatening, The Grand Rapids Press reported.

The man had put about $300 worth of hunting knives in his waistband, police told WZZM-TV. Police say he tried to leave the store, but Meijer employees confronted him and a scuffle followed.

The man then fell and was stabbed by the knives he had hidden in his clothing, police said. They said it happened about 5:40 p.m.

“The man was taken to the hospital,” said Meijer spokesman Frank Giuliano. “We are cooperating with the investigation by police.”

Police said the suspect has a record of retail fraud.

“I saw a man laying down on the mat by the carts, a knife by him with blood on the full blade of the knife,” shopper Heather Dodd told WOOD-TV. “It was not a dull kitchen knife or a sharp butcher’s knife, it was somewhere in between.

“Someone was holding him down so I just walked around him, grabbed my cart, made sure everything was OK and got out of the way.”

“At first I thought it was just a little joke, but then, when I saw the gun, I was terrified,” said John Hancock Jr., 13, of Troop 393. “And after I saw the gun this guy just punched me right here and it knocked me down,” the boy said, pointing to his face.

The men were last seen running down a nearby street after the robbery Monday night.

“They were gutsy enough to not have masks and stupid enough to hit a kid,” said police Sgt. Robert Kidd. “What kind of man hits a kid?”

A business owner has offered to replace the boys’ money.

(AP) A couple whose medical-marijuana plants were seized are threatening to sue authorities because the plants were returned dead.

The police seized 39 live marijuana plants from Jim and Lisa Masters in August 2006 and arrested them on drug charges, said their lawyer, Brian Vicente. The couple said they were using the plants for medical purposes and providing marijuana to several patients who were licensed to get it.

The narcotics charges against the Masters were dropped in June, and the plants were returned to them Monday, but dead.

The plants might be worth more than $100,000, the couple’s attorneys told the Coloradoan newspaper.

The department didn’t have to care for the plants because the couple did not have documentation to show the plants were legal, police spokeswoman Rita Davis said.
